Building on the successful spring launch of One Delisle, Slate Asset Management unveils the exclusive Penthouse Collection designed by world-renowned architect Jeanne Gang and her eponymous firm, Studio Gang. One Delisle is the first and only project in Canada designed by the Chicago-based architecture firm. The launch of eight penthouse residences at One Delisle marks a significant milestone for the country’s luxury real estate offering. Set on floors 45 to 47, each distinct penthouse spans one-third or one-half of the 16-sided building, bringing a set of completely unique and unrepeatable living spaces to the North American market.
Situated in the prestigious and historic midtown Toronto neighbourhood of Yonge and St. Clair, One Delisle embraces the neighbourhood’s connection to city and to nature. The result is an innovative tower design that allows residents to comfortably enjoy the outdoors year-round.
“Located at an important node of the city that is surrounded by a lush ravine landscape, the symbiosis between city and nature at Yonge and St. Clair has served as a source of inspiration for Studio Gang since the inception of this landmark project. The Penthouse Collection celebrates this concept and ingenuity by adding terraces, balconies, and/or winter loggias to each residence. Having four distinct types of outdoor spaces per residence is a rare amenity in high-rise condominiums. We are excited to be able to introduce this remarkable offering to the luxury market,” says Brandon Donnelly, Managing Director of Development at Slate Asset Management.
Known for finding innovative solutions to urban design challenges, Studio Gang drew inspiration for One Delisle’s distinctive terraces and variety of outdoor spaces from a German beach chair, known as the Strandkorb. Considering Toronto’s four-season weather, the outdoor spaces are protected from the elements by the building’s architecture, providing privacy and wind protection and offering panoramic views of the city.
“For One Delisle’s penthouses, we wanted to connect residents to nature and offer beautiful views of the city,” says Margaret Cavenagh, Design Principal of Interior Architecture at Studio Gang. “To do so, our design reinterprets high-rise architectural elements, such as balconies and roof gardens, into the urban equivalent of a front porch or back yard—social spaces that occur more naturally when living closer to the ground. These terraces and balconies are protected from rain, wind, and snow, creating microclimates that extend the seasons of use beyond summer.”
Inside, the great rooms of the Penthouse Collection residences boast natural stone fireplaces and the dining rooms include dramatic glass-enclosed wine cabinets. Kitchens act as a focal point to the open floorplans and are centred with a custom, pill-shaped island designed by Studio Gang. Bringing warmth and texture to the space, natural stone countertops and backsplashes are delicately paired with lacquer-finished cabinetry.
All residents of One Delisle can enjoy hotel-style amenities including an indoor, zero-edge pool with double-height glazing, connecting residents to the expansive ravine-inspired terrace. The wellness offering also includes a comprehensive fitness centre and spa with a dry sauna, Himalayan salt room, and eucalyptus steam room that lead to outdoor private terraces. For social gatherings, a chef’s kitchen and dining room are located beside a wine and cocktail lounge. A kid’s playroom offers a place of sanctuary for younger residents and their families. One Delisle’s hotel experience is enhanced with a 24-hour concierge, porte-cochère, keyless suite entry, and a lobby lounge with a fireplace.
Slate’s full-block redevelopment of One Delisle will introduce approximately 12,000 sq. ft. of new multi-level retail to the corner of Yonge St. and Delisle Ave. and will expand the adjacent Delisle Park by approximately 50 per cent. The transformation of the park is part of Slate’s continued investments in the neighbourhood.
Slate owns 13 properties in the node, including all four corners of the Yonge and St. Clair intersection and has committed $50 million in capital improvements to date. Slate’s strategic investments include improved streetscapes, large-scale murals, and other art installations.
