Doug is a Managing Director of Slate Asset Management, and is primarily responsible for deal origination for Slate’s Canadian Real Estate Special Situations Strategy and advising on the sourcing and structuring of borrowings within Canada for the platform.

Doug has over 25 years of commercial real estate lending experience from various perspectives. Prior to joining Slate, he was the Canadian lead for the debt advisory business for Brookfield Financial, where he directly placed in excess of $4.5 billion of real estate and infrastructure debt. He has worked in a direct lending capacity with two of the major Canadian mortgage banking operations. Earlier in his career, Doug worked on the principal side for a private real estate investor heading up the North American finance team. He has also held various lending positions with a leading life insurance company and international bank.

Doug holds a B.Comm. from Windsor University and a BA from McMaster University.
